Printix 2026.1: Advancing secure printing, with more control and clarity

Print environments are evolving quickly. Customers are managing hybrid teams, diverse device fleets, and growing security requirements — all at once.

With Printix 2026.1, available globally from May 19, 2026 the focus is clear: give partners and their customers more control, stronger security, and better visibility—without adding complexity to day-to-day operations.

More flexibility around updates

Automatic updates have always been key to keeping environments secure and running smoothly. At the same time, many organizations need flexibility in how those updates are rolled out.

With this new release, customers can:

  • Decide when and how updates are deployed
  • Align rollouts with internal maintenance schedule
  • Stay in control without giving up the benefits of automation

There is also a 30-day window after deployment to define update preferences, giving IT administrators more control.

Moving towards Windows Protected Print

Windows Protected Print (WPP) is starting to appear more often in conversations with IT teams.  Printix 2026.1 supports that shift, but in a way that doesn’t require rethinking everything.

Queues can be deployed in WPP-compatible environments, with detection and configuration handled automatically. From the user’s perspective, the experience remains the same. So while the underlying model becomes more secure, the day-to-day doesn’t really change — which is often what slows projects down.

Clearer visibility on users and billing

User-based billing models are straightforward, but visibility has often been a common question.

Printix 2026.1 addresses this directly by introducing:

  • Exportable reports showing active users per billing period
  • Easier alignment with finance teams and customers

This allows partners to have clearer, more confident conversations around billing and usage, especially in multi-tenant environments.

Better consistency across different devices

This release also expands Printix capabilities at device level, particularly within MFD environments.

Enhancements include:

  • Basic accounting support for Lexmark and Fujifilm
  • Metadata capture for Ricoh
  • Scan settings capture for HP OXPd

Additionally, clientless (Zero Trust) print release is now supported for Lexmark and Canon, with further improvements across the Zero Trust architecture.

A small shift, but a useful one

Printix 2026.1 isn’t a radical change — and that’s probably the point.

It focuses on areas that tend to create friction over time:

  • update control
  • security alignment
  • visibility
  • multi-vendor consistency

And smooths them out without adding extra layers.

If you’d like to explore what this update means in practice — whether for existing customers or upcoming opportunities — feel free to reach out to the ORdigiNAL team. Happy to walk through it together and see where it fits.
